COMMON PARENTING PROBLEMS

Here is a list of common parenting problems that normal parents experience with their youngsters. Some of these issues pertain to very young children while some pertain to older children and teens. If your child has any of these issues, you can rest assured that he or she is in good company!

Many different professionals may be able to help you solve your child’s behavioral problems. A psychologist/psychological associate, social worker, psychiatrist, counsellor, parenting coach and others may be able to help, depending on their training and experience. To see which professional might be right for you, read the article in the Counselling section of this site entitled “Psychologist, Psychiatrist, Counsellor or Coach – Who is the Right Professional for You?”

There are many other common parenting issues. Children will mature and a lot of issues do disappear on their own. But many require parental guidance and intervention. It’s important to know how to help your child reduce negative behaviours and feelings and become the best person he or she can be! Consult professionals when the techniques you are using just aren’t getting the results you are looking for, or, if your child’s issues are causing him or her great distress and/or inability to function properly at home or school.
